Connecting Threads

Connecting Threads is a group of quilters from the community, the majority of which belong to the Prairie Piecemakers Quilters’ Guild, that meet every week at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre to make items for donation.

Quilt tops are made from donated cotton fabric from our members and the public. Funds raised from the Guild’s quilt raffle, donations and grants are used to purchase quilt batting for all the quilted items and flannelette backing for the NICU quilts.

In 2019, 500 quilts were donated to the community. 166 quilts were donated to the NICU and 149 quilts to the Pediatric and Adolescent Units and programs at the Regina General Hospital and Wascana Rehab Centre for kids with life threatening illnesses and those in a traumatic situation. 11 bed sized quilts were donated to SOFIA House, 39 to 4 Directions Community Health Centre (along with 48 reusable cloth bags), 37 to Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, 12 to various other agencies and 86 to women with advanced cancer through the Cardio Science Unit at RGH. 238 quilted placemats are donated in December to the Health Authorities 21 outlets for their Meals-on Wheels program. 123 pillowcases were donated to the 3 women’s shelters in Regina.

If you wish to donate fabric that is 100% cotton to Connecting Threads, please phone Marlene @ 306-586-5346 or Shelby @ 306-584-2748.
