Boy, has making a chenille quilt changed.... My very first large quilt project was a class on making chenille flowers in blocks. My grandma had a chenille bedspread when I was a little girl. I think every grandma had one in the 60's. You likely have figured out that chenille was not my favourite type of quilt - a lot of work in my humble opinion. I still have the $185 worth of fabric in the bag I purchased for the class along with the brush to rough up the strip. Fast forward several years and you can buy chenille strips in different widths. I saw them at a quilt show last weekend, and in a few quilt shops recently but didn't pay much attention. I came across this Youtube video to make a Strip-Pieced Baby Quilt created by Chenille-It. If you can sew a straight line, you can make a chenille quilt. Talk about speading up the process! I have no idea on cost of these strips, but watch the video to see how much the process has changed.
